Welcome from Master Choe!

Many martial artists have e-mailed, phoned and written me over the last two years, since I published my first book "Hap Ki Do: the Korean Martial Art of Self Defense" letting me know what they thought about my books after they bought them. When I wrote my book I didn't know how many people would be interested in Hap Ki Do in the United States. Master Choe

Some readers have been confused as to which of my books would be suitable for them because of misunderstanding my book system.

Before I wrote my first book I read and checked out the few hapkido books that had been written.  I found a few books that had good explanations about hapkido, but they were either too thin, too heavy, and also expensive.  The other books describe basic kicks and techniques even though there were many pictures in the books.   It was hard to understand them that's why I decided to divide my hap ki do knowledge into four books: Volume I, 2, 3, and 4.

My first book: Hap Ki Do: The Korean Martial Art of Self  Defense describes basic and essential self defense techniques in hap ki do without any kind of kicking instruction.   I put advanced kicks and techniques in my second book: Practical Hapkido Textbook for advanced martial artists.

My third book: Hap Ki Do: A Guide To Black Belt Studies, is written for the student who is preparing for his black belt test not only physically but emotionally; or anyone who is interested in the theory and philsophy of martial arts.

Lastly, I have started Volume 4: Hap Ki Do: Kicks And Sparring Techniques.

Practice day by day.

Sincerely,

Master Choe
